THE BIRTH OF A Mega 30 PuttPutt

The idea of a trailerable trawler came from the many years of sailing vacations when the air went light and we had to be some place the next day.

As time went on more and more sailing vacations were motoring trips.

The idea! A sailboat type hull that could be trailered to distant locations.

But where to find a hull that was both trailerable (8.5 beam) and large enough to go in comfort.

All research pointed to a Mega 30 built by C & C Yachts of Ontario.. A hull was located and after a four day road trip hull # 64 was home on Cedar Island.

A picnic type motor launch was chosen with the same layout as the Mega , private head and sink forward , settees port and starboard, small galley aft, the rest of the plan would be an large deep eleven foot cockpit. This large cockpit serves as a great entertainment area along with two captains chairs and fold-up coffee table. The final touch is the built-in swim platform with outboard motor mount.

Why an outboard motor ?
All and all the boat has exceeded all expectation. Déjà vu has taking us to the Trent Waterway system, inland lakes only accessible by road, North Bay, Lake Nipissing, the French River Islands, Rideau Canal System, and the Thousand Islands.

All these trips were on time and when you want to go home you will never be waiting in port for a weather window.

If this is the type of boating you would be interested in, don't hesitate to email me at dejavu.ten@gmail.com for an inspection and test ride.
