1. Remove the complete assembled fitting from the spar.
2. With a pointed instrument, (i.e. a nail, ice pick, finger nail, etc.), remove the spring retaining ring at the aft end of the assembly. This operation can be simplified if the ring is pried or lifted to wards the cable lug with a spiraling, clockwise motion. 3. Remove the plunger assembly by pulling it out while grasping the cable lug with one hand and while holding the body casting with the other hand in such a way that the release trigger is fully depressed in order to avoid dropping the small plunger and its actuating spring nested below the trigger. 4. With a suitable punch and a hammer, drive out the roll pin at the cable lug. Remove the cable lug. Remove the main actuating spring and its retaining plate. 5. Remove the small spring ring located at the aft end of the plunger. Use the procedure as in paragraph No.2. Remove the plunger rod. 6. With a suitable punch and a hammer, drive, out the pin securing the collar at the forward end of the plunger. Remove the collar and the sleeve. 7. Lift the operating trigger and remove the trigger plunger and its actuating spring. 8. With a suitable punch and a hammer, drive out the roll pin securing the trigger and remove the trigger 9. Wash all the parts using petroleum solvent Inspect all the parts, replacing damaged or worn parts. 10.Lubricate, with light machine oil, the following pads: the inside of the plunger sleeve and the inside of the stainless steel bushings pressed into the main body housing. 11. Reassemble all the parts in the reverse order of disassembly.
